MBB organises first round-table discussion as part of INCOME project

The MBB organised its first thematic discussion as part of the INCOME Tourism project on 22nd June 2018, at the Malta University Residence, Lija. The discussion centred around the issue of soft skills in the tourism industry. In his opening remarks, MBB President Simon De Cesare fleshed out the importance of soft skills in the industry, explaining how strong soft skills have become paramount for the success of any tourism business and for the industry more generally. A round table discussion was also held, bringing together key industry stakeholders, ranging from academia, private businesses and business representatives. This discussion helped elucidate the current gap between what is taught in tourism curricula at higher educational institutions and the requirements of the industry. Furthermore, it highlighted what is already being done, and what needs to be done to remedy the situation.

Two more thematic discussions will be held during the project’s lifetime.
