WEgate: opening doors for women entrepreneurs

WEgate: opening doors for women entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship is a driver of innovation, jobs and growth, as well as social integration. Small and medium-sized businesses play a key role here, creating 85% of all new jobs in the EU. But only around 30% of start-up entrepreneurs are women. WEgate is part of the European Commission’s strategy to change this.

Building a community that works

WEgate is a one-stop shop facilitating women’s entrepreneurship.

The multilingual online platform brings together in a unique online community:

  • current and would-be women entrepreneurs
  • mentors and ambassadors
  • support organisations
  • policymakers and stakeholders

Since its launch on 30 September 2016, the community continues to grow. With European mentors and ambassadors ready to help, it’s a great place to network and get inspired.

Access to comprehensive resources

WEgate presents European and national resources to help start and grow a business in the EU and other countries participating in the COSME programme. Information covers critical areas such as access to finance and digital entrepreneurship.

The Enterprise Europe Network is referenced as source of information and contacts in various sections of WEgate. These include access to finance and business partnerships.
