MBB Energy Ecosystem

In 2019, the manufacturing and services sectors in Malta increased GVA by circa 8.9%, while energy demand only increased by 3%. As recognition for contributing to this success in energy efficiency, the MBB’s Energy Ecosystem initiative is shortlisted for the European Enterprise Promotion Awards.

EU and global climate ambitions are constantly increasing. This ambition translates into targets, and action legally required from businesses. Since 2014, the MBB anticipated the need for increased business support to help businesses act and move closer to carbon neutrality goals, through energy efficiency.

To provide this support, the MBB iniated its Energy Ecosystem. This ecosystem focused on a holistic range of support measures, including the following solutions to help businesses improve their energy efficiency:

  • Energy auditor training
  • Provision of energy audits
  • Support in implementing energy solutions
  • Peer-to-peer networking
  • Technical workshops
  • Policy consultations
  • Promoting best practices
  • Identifying traditional financing for energy efficiency projects, while promoting innovative financial schemes
