Unjustified Geo-Blocking Discussion with MEPs & Stakeholders: 20th January

Date: Friday, 20th January 2017

Time: 11.00 – 13.30

Venue: Europe House, Valletta

The European Parliament Office in Malta and the Malta Business Bureau will be organising a discussion on the proposed EU reforms in connection with the issue of Geo-Blocking.  Guest speakers will include MEPs Therese Comodini Cachia (EPP) & Marlene Mizzi (S&D) and other technical experts on the subject-matter.

Geo-blocking is a practice whereby cross-border sales of tangible goods and electronically supplied services and electronically delivered content are restricted. A proposed regulation intends to prohibit such practices in the online environment, for reasons owing to the customers’ nationality, place of residence or place of establishment. Foreign customers should be offered the same terms and conditions as local customers.

A few places will be open to the public.
