Business Transfer Conference 17th March
The Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business would like to invite you to the Malta EU Presidency Business Transfer Conference to be held on Friday 17th March at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Valletta.
The conference will see the participation of specialist delegates from across Europe, along with the Prime Minister of Malta and the Maltese Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business. Speakers include the Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs and a number of MEPs.
The participation of all involved is central to the production of a comprehensive policy report, which will allow the recommendations emerging from this event to be presented to the relevant EU Institutions.
The Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan aims to unleash Europe’s entrepreneurial potential. The strategy’s goal is to ease the creation of new businesses and to create a more supportive environment for the growth of existing entrepreneurs. The transfer of businesses from generation to generation, or from one entrepreneur to the next is a key to reaching this goal and is therefore a topic which affects every economy and jurisdiction in Europe.
In order to ensure that Europe reaches these goals it is important that Member States implement actions that will decrease barriers to such transfers, and allow for best practices to be shared across Europe. Malta, in fact, has worked incessantly to improve the environment for family businesses as these constitute a major portion of the enterprises in Malta and has, thus, created the first known legislation to support business transfers specifically for family businesses.
The Conference programme also includes two interesting workshop sessions on Cross-Border Business Transfers and Successions within Family Businesses. The agenda may be found by accessing this site.
The Conference will be moderated by MBB CEO, Joe Tanti.
